Greeeeeeen Acres is the Place to Be!

A year ago, photos of a daycare friend of Scarlet's popped up on facebook with a bunch of baby goats, pigs, etc. I saw them and thought, we must get there! Sadly, by the time the photos posted, the window of opportunity had closed, but I put a reminder in my phone to make it there this spring... and it worked!

We joined Hazel, baby Adam (and their parents, of course!) and all took on the craaaaazy wind to check out Eugster's Farm Lambing & Kidding Days!  Between petting all the baby animals (and even seeing twin goats being born!), feeding the big animals, and the wagon rides with Hazel, Scarlet was in her element.

Wind + Scarlet's hair = Constant project (even Hazel is trying to help out with her besocked hand?)

Is it sick that I love how miserable they look in this pic? But I swear, despite the faces, they were loving that wagon!

The Intervening Day: Crazy Wisconsin Spring!

Here's the day after our first hike...

wtf, Wisconsin???

Maiden "Hike"

With a confessed gearhead of a mother who is dying for some quality outdoors time (a hunger largely fed by obsessively watching gear review/hiking tips videos on YouTube as study breaks...), Scarlet was the beneficiary of an REI splurge that got her set up with a backpack, shoes, and jacket to get us started. We're lucky enough to live near lots of paths for "hiking" through the "jungle," so the first time we got a chance -- we packed up and got out there! (Note: for Scarlet, the packing up basically consisted of strapping her empty pack on... we'll work on getting her to actually carry things in it another day). Scarlet wasn't too keen to let me back away from her, so the photography opportunities were limited. Plus, for the second 2/3 of the trip, she had bailed and we made use of the back-up Ergo option. Nonetheless, hip hip hooray for our first hike!

And any outdoor adventure around here is usually finished up by a stop at our all-time favorite slide!

Visits, Visitors, & Friends!

First stop -- visiting Uncle Heng in Chicago... and loving his MSI membership!

Who's next...?!

Can you see?

It's Grandma Linda!!  She came bearing gifts, love, and great times (and ice cream encouragement!!) Here we are watching West African dancers at Orpheum Theater.

It didn't take long until we found a nearby hallway to take up the dancing ourselves...

The next day, we checked out the Madison Children's Museum!

Snagged a vest...

Complete with a tail!

... and met up with Hazel -- who was fearless!  :)

Adventures and pizza-making (not pictured) abound!

Goofing off with Hazel's papa, Micah... a toddler whisperer.

And dreaming big with Daddy!

"Someday... we will rule the galaxy."

Tickling the (plastic) ivories with Daddy and Grandma...

And feeling very lucky!!
